Manufacturer Recommendation / AEM Status
Pedigo identifies daily, monthly, and yearly inspection and cleaning tasks. The yearly temperature comparison is performed with an empty cavity after approximately one hour of stabilization. Use this procedure with the current manufacturer manual and the facility's approved maintenance program.
The manual does not publish a numeric allowable difference between the warmer display and an independent thermometer. Record all readings and apply Pedigo or facility acceptance criteria without inventing a tolerance.

Required Tools and Equipment
- Calibrated thermocouple thermometer suitable for 60-160°F (16-71°C).
- Nonconductive support for positioning the thermocouple and a timer.
- Electrical safety analyzer when required by facility policy.
- Vacuum with a soft brush attachment and soft lint-free cloths.
- Mild detergent or manufacturer-compatible cleaner and facility-required PPE.
Step-by-Step PM Procedure
1. Identify and Prepare the Warmer
Action: Verify the asset number, serial number, model, voltage rating, location, service history, and reported problems. Remove blankets and supplies. Allow hot surfaces to cool before cleaning or inspection.
Expected outcome: The correct unit and applicable history are confirmed, and the warmer is safe to handle.
2. Inspect Installation and Clearances
Action: Confirm stable installation and unobstructed airflow. Maintain at least 4 inches (102 mm) at the rear, 4 inches above, and 2 inches (51 mm) at each side. Verify vents and fan guards are clear and that the cavity has not been overloaded.
Expected outcome: The warmer is secure, correctly spaced, and ventilated.
3. Inspect Exterior, Door, and Hardware
Action: Inspect the enclosure, door, hinges, latch, handle, gasket/seal, labels, feet or casters, wall hardware if installed, and fasteners. Check for cracks, corrosion, deformation, looseness, sharp edges, or evidence of overheating.
Expected outcome: Exterior parts are intact and the door closes and seals normally.
4. Inspect Cord, Plug, and Controller
Action: Unplug the unit and inspect the hospital-grade plug, grounding pin, cord, strain relief, inlet, display, buttons, and controller screen for damage, contamination, discoloration, or illegible indications.
Expected outcome: The power connection and controller are intact with no unsafe damage.
5. Inspect the Cavity
Action: Inspect shelves, shelf supports, interior panels, fan guards, vents, and temperature-sensor guards. Look for damage, contamination, blocked airflow, loose parts, or items contacting a sensor guard. Confirm shelves and supports are correctly installed.
Expected outcome: The cavity is cleanable, unobstructed, and correctly assembled.
6. Clean the Warmer
Action: Clean the exterior, shelves, and interior with a soft cloth and compatible mild detergent. Vacuum exterior vents and fan guards using a soft brush. Do not use abrasives or cleaners containing chloride, ammonia, or quaternary salts. Do not hose, flood, steam-clean, or use a water jet. Dry all surfaces and reinstall shelves and supports correctly.
Expected outcome: The warmer is clean, dry, residue-free, and fully reassembled.
7. Verify Basic Operation
Action: Reconnect power. Verify the display and controls initialize normally. Set an appropriate test temperature within the 60-160°F (16-71°C) operating range and observe heating, fan operation, display response, and any alarm or error indications.
Expected outcome: Controls, display, heating, and airflow operate normally without abnormal noise, odor, or error.
8. Position the Reference Thermocouple
Action: With the cavity empty, position the calibrated thermocouple approximately 1 inch (25 mm) from the cavity temperature sensor. Use a nonconductive support and prevent the probe from touching any surface.
Expected outcome: The probe measures cavity air near the sensor without conductive surface error.
9. Perform the Yearly Temperature Comparison
Action: Close the door and allow the empty warmer to stabilize for approximately one hour. Record the setpoint, warmer display, and calibrated thermocouple reading. Do not assign an unsupported numeric tolerance; apply the current Pedigo or facility criterion.
Expected outcome: Temperature performance is documented and meets the approved acceptance criterion.
10. Check Safety Functions and Final Condition
Action: Confirm the unit maintains the selected setting without alarms or repeated high-limit trips. Verify the door, shelves, sensor guards, vents, labels, and accessories are restored. A repeated high-limit reset trip requires authorized service.
Expected outcome: No unresolved alarm, overheating condition, damage, or assembly issue remains.
11. Complete Electrical Safety Testing
Action: When required by facility policy, test protective-earth continuity and touch/chassis leakage using the applicable equipment classification and facility/NFPA 99 limits.
Expected outcome: Recorded results meet the approved limits.
12. Return to Service
Action: Remove test equipment, confirm the cavity is dry and empty, restore the normal setpoint if authorized, apply the PM label, and document results and corrective actions.
Expected outcome: The warmer is complete, clean, correctly configured, and ready for clinical use.
Electrical Safety Testing
The P-2055 is a grounded, cord-connected warmer. Perform electrical safety testing when required by facility policy and the analyzer manufacturer's instructions.
Ground resistance measured in ohms, expected ≤ 0.5 Ω or facility/NFPA 99 criteria if different.

- Electrical safety results meet facility/NFPA 99 criteria when applicable.
Remove From Service Criteria
- Damaged cord, plug, grounding pin, enclosure, door, gasket, sensor guard, shelf, or installation hardware creates a safety concern.
- Airflow is blocked, components are missing or incorrectly installed, or contamination cannot be corrected.
- Heating, fan, controller, display, alarms, or temperature performance fails the approved criterion.
- The high-limit reset trips repeatedly or there is evidence of overheating.
- Ground resistance or touch/chassis leakage fails the applicable limit.
