If the scale is correctly loaded, unobstructed, aligned, latched closed, and the carrying-bar handle is rotated down, but the PrismaFlex still reports Scale Open, external and common setup causes have been ruled out.

A persistent Scale Open alarm may indicate a scale closure sensor, latch, wiring, or scale assembly failure.

Remove the PrismaFlex from service, label it Out of Service, and send it for repair or bench evaluation. If the scale sensor fails testing in Diagnose Screen – Scale Diagnose, replace the affected scale assembly according to service procedure.

Knowing when to stop is proper troubleshooting.

Clinical Use Tip

Never troubleshoot on an active patient. Move the patient to a backup device first.

Do not continue priming or connect a patient to the PrismaFlex while a Scale Open alarm is unresolved. Use another CRRT system if therapy needs to begin before the machine is corrected.
