Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Protect the Patient

2. Confirm the Cassette Symptom

3. Remove and Inspect the Cassette

4. Inspect the Receptacle
Inspect the external cassette receiving area for contamination, debris, fluid, or an obstruction. Do not probe or adjust internal contacts. Expected outcome: The receptacle is clean and unobstructed.
5. Reinstall the Cassette
Align and install the cassette normally without unusual force. Expected outcome: The cassette seats completely and is recognized. If recognition returns, proceed to the complete pre-use check.
6. Confirm Compatibility and Proper Processing
Verify the cassette is approved for the Servo-air Lite and has been cleaned, dried, and prepared according to applicable requirements. Expected outcome: A correct, properly prepared cassette is installed.
7. Substitute a Known-Good Cassette

If the Problem Persists
External cassette condition, seating, compatibility, and receptacle obstruction have been ruled out. The remaining issue may involve the cassette detection interface, internal sensing, alignment, electronics, or other service-level hardware. Remove the ventilator from service, label it Out of Service, and send it for bench evaluation using appropriate Getinge documentation and approved test equipment. Complete pre-use, alarm, and ventilation testing following repair. Knowing when to stop external troubleshooting is proper troubleshooting.
