1. Protect the Patient and Establish Alternate Monitoring
Do not continue using a monitor that freezes, restarts, or cannot complete startup while a patient depends on it. Transfer monitoring to another verified device.

2. Confirm the Failure Pattern
Determine whether the monitor is completely dead, hangs during startup, reaches normal operation and later freezes, or restarts only under specific conditions such as transport or accessory connection.

3. Verify the Power Source
Test the outlet or approved power source and confirm the external power cord is fully connected. Compare AC and battery behavior when safe and appropriate.
Expected outcome: Stable power is available to the monitor and simple supply problems are ruled out.
4. Inspect the Power Cord, Battery, and Exterior
Check for damaged cords, loose connectors, battery abnormalities, liquid exposure, impact damage, unusual heat, odor, or signs of overheating.
Expected outcome: No unsafe external condition is present. Any unit showing heat, odor, liquid intrusion, or significant damage is immediately removed from service.
5. Disconnect Nonessential Accessories
