Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Protect the Patient and Maintain Required Monitoring
If a required parameter becomes unavailable during patient care, move that measurement to another verified monitoring method or monitor before troubleshooting. Do not troubleshoot an unreliable parameter while the patient depends on it.

2. Confirm Exactly What Is Not Recognized

3. Inspect Module Seating

4. Inspect the FMX Rack and External Connections

8. Check for External Configuration or Compatibility Factors
Verify that the module and rack combination is approved for the system and that no recent equipment move, software/configuration change, or accessory replacement coincided with the complaint. Do not make unauthorized service-level configuration changes.
Expected outcome: No obvious compatibility or configuration mismatch is present. If an approved configuration correction resolves the problem, verify all required parameters before return to service.
9. Perform Final Functional Verification
After correction, confirm that the rack and affected modules are recognized through startup and normal operation. Verify displayed measurements and alarms using appropriate simulators or test equipment.
Expected outcome: All required modules remain recognized and function correctly. If so, troubleshooting is complete.
10. Escalate Persistent Recognition Failures
If module seating, rack connections, alternate positions, known-good substitutions, and approved configuration checks do not resolve the problem, stop external troubleshooting.
Expected outcome: The affected module, rack, or monitor is removed from service as appropriate and referred for qualified bench evaluation.
