Manufacturer-Listed Frequencies

After Each Use / End of Day

Clean and disinfect the tabletop, pads, base, shrouds, yoke, and hand control. Ensure pads and tabletop are dry before reinstalling.

Weekly

Clean and disinfect the table. Check casters and floor locks for debris. Articulate the table through all movements and clean exposed surfaces.

Bi-Weekly

Operate each table function. Operation must be smooth and quiet.

Monthly

Check casters and floor locks for accumulated debris. Clean caster and floor lock areas.

Battery Charging

Recharge every 15 days in normal service, more often if usage demands. Recharge whenever the half-filled battery icon appears. If stored longer than three months, charge batteries every three months. The manual states fully charged batteries support approximately 100 to 150 procedures, about three weeks. Battery charge time is approximately/minimum 12 hours.

Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Required Tools and Equipment

Required tools and equipment include clean dry lint-free cloths, clean water, manual-compatible disinfectant/cleaner, basic hand tools for covers/shrouds/side rail hardware/access panels, level, digital multimeter for battery voltage checks, Lubriplate No. 2 or manual-listed equivalent when lubrication is needed, and a facility electrical safety analyzer if electrical safety testing is required by facility policy.

Do not use alcohol or phenolics for table cleaning/disinfection. The manual also warns not to spray cleaning fluid into electrical receptacles or directly into backup control openings or clearance spaces.

Step-by-Step PM Procedure

1. Review Safety and Remove From Clinical Use

Action: Confirm the table is not in active patient use. Review pinch point, tipping, electrical shock, infection control, and floor lock warnings before servicing.

Expected outcome: Table is safe to inspect and articulate.

Why it matters: The table has powered movement, hydraulic components, pinch points, and floor lock hazards.

2. Perform Overall Visual Inspection

Action: Inspect the table frame, base, column, shrouds, tabletop sections, side rails, accessories, pads, hand control, power cord, control cable, connectors, and visible hardware.

Expected outcome: No cracked, loose, damaged, missing, contaminated, or unsafe components.

Remove from service if: Power cord damage, hand control damage, cracked structural parts, loose side rail hardware, unstable accessories, torn pads that cannot be cleaned, or visible hydraulic leakage are found.

3. Inspect Pads and Fastening Strips

Action: Remove pads. Inspect pad covers, fastening strips on pads and table, and tabletop surfaces underneath.

Expected outcome: Pads are intact, cleanable, secure, and free from rips, tears, or fluid intrusion concerns.

4. Inspect Side Rails and Accessory Hardware

Action: Examine clamps, side rails, and visible side rail screws. Tighten visible side rail screws as needed.

Expected outcome: Side rails and accessory attachment points are secure.

Remove from service if: Side rails are loose, damaged, or cannot safely retain accessories.

5. Inspect X-Ray Tops If Equipped

Action: Remove and inspect X-ray top sections if present. Check for cracked sections and loose standoffs.

Expected outcome: X-ray tops are secure, undamaged, and reinstall correctly.

6. Inspect Shrouds, Covers, and Base

Action: Verify cap and shroud integrity. Remove table shrouds/base cover as required by the PM schedule and inspect internal accessible areas.

Expected outcome: Covers are intact, properly sealed, and can be secured after inspection.

7. Check Hydraulic System

Action: Check hydraulic oil level. Inspect floor below table, hoses, fittings, cylinders, and hydraulic components for oil leakage.

Expected outcome: Hydraulic oil level is acceptable and no abnormal leaks are present.

Remove from service if: Active hydraulic leakage, low oil level, damaged hoses/fittings, or uncontrolled table motion is found.

8. Check Floor Locks and Casters

Action: Clean and inspect casters. Check caster condition, floor lock mechanism, table stability, pins, foot assemblies, and foot pads. Confirm the table rolls freely when unlocked and is stable when locked.

Expected outcome: Casters roll freely, floor locks engage/disengage correctly, and the table is stable.

Remove from service if: Floor locks fail to hold, foot pads are missing, caster damage affects movement, or table stability is questionable.

9. Inspect Floor Lock Cylinders

Action: Fully extend floor lock cylinders. Visually inspect for oil dripping. Check cylinder shafts for hydraulic oil.

Expected outcome: No dripping hydraulic oil. A slight film may be present per manual wording.

Remove from service if: Oil forms a drop or floor lock cylinder leakage is present.

10. Check Hand Control and Optional Foot Control

Action: Inspect hand control housing, touch pads, display, and cable. Operate table positioning functions using hand control and optional foot control if equipped.

Expected outcome: Controls respond correctly, display values/icons are readable, and table motion is controlled.

11. Check Backup / Auxiliary Control System

Action: With tabletop at low height, use the backup hand control and foot pump. Press HEIGHT UP and pump the pedal.

Expected outcome: Tabletop raises correctly using the auxiliary control system.

Remove from service if: Backup control does not operate correctly.

12. Check ALS System

Action: Raise tabletop to the highest position. Move slide toward the head end limit. Lower the leg section cautiously until ALS warning lights and tabletop motion stops.

Expected outcome: ALS warning activates and motion stops before collision.

Remove from service if: ALS does not engage or table movement does not stop before a collision risk.

13. Check LEVEL Function

Action: Ensure reverse orientation is not active. Press LEVEL. Verify kidney/lateral tilt, Trendelenburg/back, leg, and slide return to level/neutral as applicable. Use a level to confirm tabletop level.

Expected outcome: Table returns to level/horizontal.

Remove from service if: LEVEL function fails or tabletop cannot be verified level.

14. Check Tabletop Operation

Action: Check all table movements: back section, leg section, tilt left/right, Trendelenburg/reverse Trendelenburg, height up/down, headrest manual operation, slide function, and kidney elevator if applicable.

Expected outcome: All movements are smooth, quiet, controlled, and free of collision, binding, drift, or abnormal noise.

Remove from service if: Movement is rough, noisy, uncontrolled, incomplete, or unsafe.

15. Check Leg Section Locking

Action: Verify leg section installs easily, locks securely, and releases correctly. Move table up/down and confirm no part collisions.

Expected outcome: Leg section locks securely and table movement remains safe.

16. Check Battery and Charger Status

Action: Verify battery charger status and battery condition. Measure both battery voltages. The manual-listed battery check states that the difference between battery readings must be less than 0.2 V, articulations must be performed for at least two minutes, voltage must not drop more than 0.6 V, voltage after waiting two minutes must have risen by 0.3 V at most, and voltage must rise above 28 V when 120 V is supplied.

Expected outcome: Batteries and charger pass the manual-listed voltage checks.

Remove from service if: Battery voltage difference, voltage drop, recovery, or charging behavior does not meet manual criteria.

17. Lubricate and Reassemble

Action: Examine lubricated parts and apply lubrication as needed. Reinstall covers, shrouds, X-ray tops if equipped, and pads.

Expected outcome: Covers and shrouds are secured/sealed, pads are installed, and no tools/materials remain.

18. Final Operational Check

Action: Run a final function check after reassembly. Confirm table locks, moves, levels, charges, and responds to controls correctly.

Expected outcome: Table is safe to return to service.

Electrical Safety Testing if applicable

The provided manual identifies the table as Class 1, Type B equipment and includes protective earth/equipotential symbols. It also warns that if the integrity of the external protective ground is in doubt, the table should be operated from its internal power source.

Remove From Service Criteria

Remove from service if any hydraulic oil leak forms drops or affects operation; floor locks fail; the table is unstable; casters are unsafe; the power cord, control cable, hand control, connector, or wiring is damaged; table movement is uncontrolled, noisy, binding, drifting, incomplete, or unsafe; ALS does not stop movement before collision risk; LEVEL function fails; leg or head section locking device fails; battery/charger check fails; electrical safety test fails facility criteria; or any condition creates patient, staff, or equipment safety risk.
